a week of firsts

First Big Outing
We were getting a little stir crazy in the house last week.  Lydia was 4 days old now, and it ended up being a beautiful afternoon outside on Wednesday, so we loaded up the car and headed to White Bear Lake to the Pine Tree Apple Orchard.

Why walk when you can sprint, right?  Henry and Phil ran up and down the rows of apple trees a few times to burn off some energy before they went on a tractor ride.

Baby girl was a trooper.  She snoozed through the whole trip, and we even got to go out for dinner at Donatelli's (after it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on the Food Network, we had to check it out.....delicious)!

First Doctor's Appointment
She weighed in at 8 lbs, 3 ozs and the rest of her check-up was great.  They expect that babies will be back up to their birthweight at their 2 week check-up.  Dr. Sakkal said she's a healthy little babe.

First Bath
All clean and dressed up now!

First Trip To Church
Lydia is a loud squeaker.  She squeaks (like her Great Grandma Bertha), both when awake and asleep. She sure let the congregation know she had arrived with all her noise making.  The little old ladies behind us were in love with her new pink hat :)

Funny story about Henry.....today when we got in the car to take Henry to school, Lydia was crying at first and Henry said, "Mommy, I don't think you fed her enough, she's crying for more!"  Oh, how observant they are.

Grandma & Grandpa were in town this past weekend.  Henry stayed busy with a trip to Fleet Farm to check out the Toyland that opened up on Saturday as well as making a few bird feeders for our trees.

homecoming

Thank you to our hospital visitors.....
Lydia's Opa & Oma (I don't think Oma can wipe the grin off her face:)

Auntie Sonja

And 24 hours later, we were outta there!  Lydia had her "24-hours-old" tests - birth weight (she only lost 4 oz), hearing test, and a few others I can't remember, but she passed them all with flying colors and they gave us the green light to head home.

Somebody was excited to get home and see that big brother, I think :)

This is what was waiting for us on our front porch.  Do we have the best neighbors in the world or what?!

Get ready Lydia, that big brother of yours was pretty excited to see you too!

the BIG day

And here's how the story goes.....I couldn't have written it up any better if I had planned it that day!

We woke up Saturday morning after a good night's rest.  Phil was making pancakes in the kitchen while Henry and I were playing in the living room.  At 7:30am, my water broke (a little) and the contractions began.  Oma came over to take care of Henry (thank you, thank you, thank you) and off to the hospital we went - it was GO time :)

It was such a beautiful Fall morning, not a cloud in the sky (or a car on the road for that matter, either).

We've arrived!  Abbott Northwestern and Children's Hospitals recently opened their Mother Baby Center, and it did not disappoint.  I'd definitely recommend it.  We received such great care.

After I was assessed, here we were, in our room.

And just 7 hours after Phil starting making pancakes that morning, here she was, Lydia Mae Krump :)

Oh, does this look just like Henry's picture to me (only Henry was just a "shrimp" at 8 lbs).  His sister beat him in the birthweight department.

Rolls, rolls, and more rolls.....gotta LOVE it!

Lydia gave Henry a sticker book when he got to the hospital to meet her.  She knows just what he loves!

At about 10pm that night, our nurse came in for her first bath.....

.....and footprints.  And then off to bed we went.
Day 1 was complete.  I'd say it was a pretty good day!  What a beautiful little girl we have.....in fact, she's pretty awesome :)

.....and baby makes 4!

It's a girl!
Lydia Mae Krump arrived on October 12, 2013 at 2:17pm
weighing 8 lbs, 8 oz
20 inches long
We're all home now, safe and sound, doing well!
More pictures to come soon.....

Fall fun

It hardly feels like Fall around here this week - mid 70s, I love it!  We've managed to get to the park everyday.  Shorts and a t-shirt in the middle of October?  Henry's growing out of his summer clothes!

Henry got his pumpkin all ready this week and it's out on the porch with the others.  Apparently you need a hammer, wrench, and screwdriver to help push Mr. Pumpkin's facial features in!

I can't stop making Apple Crisp this week.  It is soooo good!  Henry was an excellent helper with this batch.  So, maybe the measurements were just a bit off, oh well :)

And check out these beautiful flowers my husband brought home yesterday!  Fresh flowers on the table are oh so pretty, aren't they?

38 1/2 weeks

I'm late with this one.  I'm now 39 weeks.....today.  My weekly appointments have been uneventful, which I've said all along is just fine with me.  Baby's heartrate this week was 148.  I've seen 2 different doctors in the past 2 weeks and they both said they think the baby will be smaller than Henry was (8 pounder).  We'll see?  Just this past weekend, I've really been feeling slow-moving, but maybe it's the rainy weather we've been having too!

In other news.....I really having nothing else crazy to report.  Henry's been busy with preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  He's LOVING it!  He's always asking when he gets to go back to school.  I'm so happy that he enjoys it.
Our church playgroup started up this week for the school year, so that was fun getting to see those people again.  All the ladies couldn't believe I was STILL pregnant!
We got our mums and pumpkins out on the porch, and it's finally feeling like Fall weather around here.  Speaking of Fall weather, I'm hungry for some apple crisp.....that'll be dessert tonight.  Along with this cool and rainy weather, it's been hard to check off all the places we like to visit in the Fall.  We had one nice afternoon 2 weekends ago, where we hit up Anoka County Farms.  Henry and Phil went to the  Eveland Family Farm last Sunday when I went to work for the day.  We still haven't made it to my favorite local apple orchard yet, Pine Tree Apple Orchard - too wet outside - hopefully soon!

baby's room

Ready or not, this baby is coming.....any day now, in fact!  Henry's down the hall in his "blue-big-boy-room," so I made a few changes to the baby's room, nothing crazy.  We had the room painted a grayish/greenish if you ask me; I like it.  The furniture is all in the same place, but I switched out the bedding and decor.  I went with gray, yellow, and white, and then I figure I'll add a little blue or pink when this baby gets here.

Aaahhh, this chair will get plenty of use (again) in the upcoming months.  Luckily, it's all broken in; nice and cozy.

Yes, Henry (the beaver) has left his mark, teeth marks that is, on the crib.  He successfully chewed up 3 of 4 sides of the crib in his tenure in there.  It gives it character, right?
